Dick took his primary instrument, tenor saxophone, at age 11 and played his first gig at age 14. He studied music at Youngstown University’s Dana School of Music and earned a Bachelor of Science from Duquesne University (Pittsburgh) and his Master’s Equivalency at Penn State and Kent State Universities. Along the way, Dick mastered the clarinet, piano, flute, button box accordion, and banjo. Dick is a retired music teacher of 34 years. He has achievements to his credits, including a Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Cleveland Style Polka Hall of Fame, as well as the hall of fame’s 2003 “Best Recording” award for his solo album “Richard Allen Michael Tady Presents: The Greatest Slovenian Polka Hits” and went on to repeat with his second solo album “Richard Allen Michael Tady – He’s Back!” in 2016, as well as, “Best New Song” award for a song he penned for his grandchildren titled “Justin and Maggie’s Song” from the same album.
